Join Us for an Online Career Fair on October 16

By , August 29, 2012

“Jobs” is the buzzword for the 2012 elections, which was clearly demonstrated at last night’s GOP convention. Working-age Americans need good jobs, and what’s more, people with disabilities want to work too.

We’re doing our part to connect job seekers with disabilities to employers. We’ll be hosting the first Think Beyond the Label Online Career Fair on October 16. Powered by Brazen Careerist, the online career site, job seekers will have a unique opportunity to interview one-on-one with employers that are actively seeking to hire them, in real-time.

We worked with Brazen Careerist to make the career fair accessible to everyone. When you register on the Brazen Careerist site, you’ll be asked some optional questions, such as: Will you be using assistive technology? Also: Will you require an accommodation such as additional time when typing in text-based chats? There’s a box where you can request any specific accommodations that will help you in your interviews.

The interviews take place in real-time, over text chat. Answering these questions will help recruiters understand if there’s a need for extra time or assistance in what’s a generally 10-15 minute one-on-one interview.

We think an online recruiting environment that’s specifically targeted to people with disabilities will give candidates a great platform for selling their skills and abilities to employers looking to hire them. If you’re a job seeker with a disability we encourage you to register—it’s free—and complete your profile on the Think Beyond the Label website, which will help employers learn more about you ahead of time.

Businesses should also register to participate; the Think Beyond the Label Online Career Fair is an ideal platform for federal contractors looking for new methods to reach job candidates with disabilities and improve efforts toward compliance and diversity. Registration comes with lots of value-adds, including a custom-branded employer page, a full candidate Report with information about each candidate who attends the event and their resume.

Brazen Careerist is offering early bird rates through August 31. As a bonus, the first 15 employers to register will receive prime logo placement on Think Beyond the Label’s website to further enhance your outreach to this recruitment pool. Employers: Get registered here today!

We’re really excited about the Think Beyond the Label Online Career Fair, and helping people with disabilities find meaningful work that matches their skills, interests and abilities. See you at the career fair on October 16!
