Think Beyond the Label is the leading cross-sector partnership offering businesses a range of solutions from diversity recruiting strategies recruitment advertising to planning and training. Think Beyond the Label is powered by Smart Policy Works (formerly Health & Disability Advocates), a nonprofit that has been a driving force behind building smarter systems of access to health, disability employment and income supports for more than 20 years. SPW partners with organizations in more than 40 states and many national and regional businesses. Like you, we believe when people with disabilities work, everybody wins.
Think Beyond the Label was created to better inform, connect and communicate with all stakeholders in the disability and employment system so that we can be a catalyst for a more inclusive workforce.
Starting in 2010, TBTL helped employers fulfill their workplace diversity and compliance needs ahead of a U.S. Department of Labor rule that would require the nation’s 255,000 federal contractors to employ at least 7% of their workforce with qualified people with disabilities. (The new Section 503 regulations became effective in March 2014.)
We helped businesses large and small make disability a part of their diversity recruiting and hiring strategies and connected businesses to qualified candidates; and we provided tools for job seekers to get hired through our online Career Fairs, Open Houses, Smart Hire and Hire4Ability programs.

TBTL’s “Evolve Your Workforce” campaign was proudly sponsored by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. It was managed and directed by Health & Disability Advocates – now Smart Policy Works, a national nonprofit organization and trusted expert on health care, disability and veterans’ issues for more than 20 years.
If you have questions about TBTL, or are interested in working with us to help advance workplace diversity, we would be happy to hear from you.
